To help your preparation for Postas Cup 2007, we have uploaded the old maps of the Womens and the Mens Elite course with the winners routes from the Postas Cup in 83. This race was the first ever World Cup event - unofficial at that time.
The race was won by Brit Voklen and Tore Sagvolden, both from Norway.

Terrain – Map

The event takes place on and around Zuppa Top which is situated at 385m height on the Southern side of the Gerecse Mountain in the Transdanubian Range. The geology near the surdace show remains of an ancient sea, mostly limestone and dolomite. This creates the conditions underfoot and the relief. IN places steep, rocky sides and flat tops, elsewhere small ridges and valleys follow each other, creating variety and a highly technical terrain. Vegetation cover includes oak and planted conifer forest, mixed with karst bush, open and semi open areas. Runnability of the clear felled areas, created by forestry operations, is variable.

Zuppa Top was the scene of many events even prior to the use of coloured orienteering maps. Later the map has been updated and used many times, the last time in 1996. The Postás Cup used this area twice (1983, 1987), of which the year 1983 marked the advent of the first, unofficial World Cup.

Szárliget

Szárliget lies in Komárom-Esztergom County, 45 km from Budapest, at the foot of the Vértes and Gerecse Mountains. This area has been inhabited by humans since antiquity, celts, Romans, huns lived here. The village took its present form in the early part of the XXth century, after the owners of the nearby mines bought land here and developed it by selling to their own staff, both active and retired. Until 1930 it was called Disabled Estate, later, after several changes of name it was in 1971 that it acquired its current name, Szárliget. It became an autonomous, independent village on 1st January 1989.
